Kyle Shewfelt

Kyle Shewfelt is the first Canadian athlete to win an Olympic medal in men’s artistic gymnastics. Canadians were proud to call this Calgary native their own when he won gold at the Athens 2004 Olympic Summer Games. Since then, Kyle shows no signs of slowing down, winning double gold in the team event and vault, and a bronze medal in the floor event at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia in 2006.

Kyle managed to achieve all this despite an injury that nearly kept him from competing in Athens. A highly respected athlete at home and abroad, he even has a gymnastics move, "The Shewfelt," named for him. His sights are set on the Beijing 2008 Olympic Summer Games, where he will attempt to claim victory once again for a national sports organization he has helped define through his success.
